Jane Patrick

Jane Patrick has recently returned to the Main Street Artists community.  “It feels wonderful to be back with my good pals who I painted with going back even to Sari Gaby’s group at the Hungerford years ago. This is the perfect place for what my artistic direction is right now. During my studies at Auburn University I spent a lot of time in the textiles area as I pursued my B.S. Fashion Merchandising degree. Unfortunately for me, I learned too late that I was probably in the wrong program. The time I spent in the textiles area is what got me through the rest of my coursework. I really loved the textures and colors and freedom of self-expression I was exposed to. When I started painting years later my art was all about exploring representational subjects through acrylics and oils. I still will be working on canvas but with an abstract approach.  For instance, my first completed project at the studio was inspired by a simple basket. It was a lot of fun to see what developed on the canvas. Being at the Main Street Artists studio is like returning home to that place where my family accepts me with open arms. There is a lot of energy at The Hungerford. Someone recently said that MSA is the heart and soul of the entire building and that’s the kind of community I know my artistic inspiration will always be nurtured. There is a lot of knowledge and resources easily accessible through the MSA community. It’s good to be back.”
